Microsith Planet Exploder 4.0 for Macintosh
Running on Bill's Mac
Created by Owen Rudge: 6th-7th December 2000
I've spent a bit of time playing with Paint Shop Pro, Basilisk II, vMac and Internet Explorer 4.0 for the Mac. This involved an initial screenshot from Basilisk II, an idea from Microsith.com, some screenshots from vMac, a lot of cutting and pasting, trying to remove Microsoft's bits of text stuck right in the middle of images, my C drive getting full (PSP filled the TEMP folder with undo history files...), and eventually the finished piece.
So, I proudly present.... Microsith Planet Exploder 4.0 for Macintosh (138KB). It's in PNG format as that had the best quality and reasonably small file format (GIF pushed it down to 256 colours - not enough, and JPEG caused quality loss, even at very low (5%) compression level). I tried zipping it and it reduced it by..... 1KB. [27/04/04: At the time, I didn't know that PNG files were zlib-compressed.]
Comments? If so, send 'em along. I might try creating an IE 'skin' (or branding really) containing Planet Exploder-like graphics and animations (e.g. Death Star etc).
