Welcome to owenrudge.net!
Welcome to the online home of Owen Rudge! I'm a software developer, formerly a Computer Science student at the University of St Andrews, and this is my personal site which has evolved over the years from a small site about Visual Basic to a sprawling mass of relatively random stuff. I do a lot of programming and web development in a variety of languages (these days primarily C/C++ and PHP, but formerly also included languages such as Visual Basic). Click here to find out more about me.
This site contains a good smattering of information on Visual Basic, the GEM GUI for DOS, my OSPlus utility kit for DOS, the fantastic game Transport Tycoon, the FreeDOS operating system, the Age of Empires game, and includes some miscellaneous utilities you can download. It also contains some personal stuff such as my blog, and a gallery of desktop screenshots, DesktopShots! Feel free to explore using the navigation bar at the top of the page. Be warned that a lot of the information hasn't been updated in some time, such as the Visual Basic section - since becoming a student, I've ended up with a lot less free time!
Is there something you would like to see on owenrudge.net? Just want to get in touch? Drop me a line!
Site news: TTDX Editor 1.20 released
Following in the footsteps of December’s Saved Game Manager update, I have released a new version of TTDX Editor, the first since 2004! The main feature is improved compatibility with modern versions of Windows (although TTDX Editor was less broken in this respect than the Saved Game Manager). The new version also includes a handful of bug fixes and some other minor improvements. If you’re interested, you can download it here.
I’m intending to release a new version of TTDAlter with similar improvements at some point in the future (although I’ve yet to start work on it, and TTDAlter was by far the most complex of my Transport Tycoon utilities). In the longer term, I also would like to work on versions of TTDAlter and TTDX Editor that work with OpenTTD (manipulating GRF files in the case of TTDAlter), but those will both basically involve complete rewrites. Maybe in another 8 years, eh?
Latest blog: Olivia is two today!
Doesn’t time fly?
Apologies for the lack of any real blogs in the past two years or so. I can’t honestly say that you’re likely to see many more blogs in the near future, I just don’t have that much to write about, and tend to find I have other things keeping me busy when I do (funny how kids do that to you!). But rest assured that things are good in the life of the supreme ruler, and that I’m keeping busy and mostly out of trouble!
